If you like biscuits (I mean who doesn’t?!) then it’s likely that you will like maca. Not only is it brimming with nutrients but has the most brilliant biscuit taste and smell!

Maca, like lucuma, is commonly grown in Peru and is a vegetable that looks similar to a radish. Again, like lucuma, it is commonly used by many people in a powder form. This is how you would find it in our products. We use it in all of our protein bites as well as all of our cookie mixes. So you don’t have to look far at un-Refined to get your hands on some!

Maca has been cultivated for more than 2000 years[i] for its abundance of health properties and traditional medicinal uses. It has numerous benefits both for men and women. It has been found to improve memory and learning ability[ii] plus in studies maca has been suggested to be an energiser[iii]. The superfood has been known to be used to improve mens sexual health by increasing libido and sperm count[iv]. The superfood is also beneficial for women as it has been shown to help with the effects or menopause including the psychological symptoms like anxiety and depression[v].

So all in all, there is a lot that this food has to offer! Loads of vitamins and minerals, it’s proven to have an array of health benefits AND it tastes like biscuits!
